These Tribes, commonly known by English and French names, are the Colville, the Nespelem, the San Poil, Lake, Palus, Wenatchi (Wenatchee), Chelan, Entiat, Methow, southern Okanogan, Moses Columbia and the Nez Perce of Chief Joseph’s Bands. The Tribes trace their roots back to twelve nomadic, aboriginal groups.
When choosing a name of cultural significance for their casino and hotel properties, the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation chose the moniker “12 Tribes” in order to honor a proud people and a storied past.
